Εllie Sass was born in Athens (Greece) in 1973. At the age of 14 she moved to Monaco with her family. After graduating in Monaco, she studied french literature (Sorbonne, Paris IV). She has worked as a French teacher for several years. She still enjoys teaching the French language online.
Ellie Sass has always been interested in art. In parallel with her work she continued her studies on theatre, fine arts and photography.
She speaks Greek (native language), French, English and a little Italian.
Today Ellie Sass lives and works in Greece. Her personal studio ‘Studio Ellie Sass’ is based in Varkiza – near the sea, outside of Athens.
Ellie Sass focuses on portrait, theatre, street and nature photography and works on narrative and experimental photography. She creates black and white aesthetics in experimental photography, with harsh contrasts of shadows and light, and a tendency towards noir, comic aesthetic, and abstract minimalism (photo expressionism).
Since 2022 her work in experimental photography has been recognized by various distinct galleries in Europe.
Her photo project on experimental photography ‘RABBITHOLE: Behind The Scenes’ has been discovered recently by FotoSlovo Art Magazine (2025).

As a visual artist Ellie Sass is interested in photo collages, in expressionist paintings and in mixed media artworks but also in portraiture and in hagiography.
She creates collages and mixed-media artworks on photographs printed on canvas and on dibond using supplies including acrylic, oil paint, carbon, pencil, markers and photographic paper.
She has participated in various photography and visual art exhibitions. She has distinguished herself in many competitions and her work has been exhibited in Europe.

Current Activity
Ellie Sass has been working on various projects at this moment. Her main axis is spirituality, experimental art and expressionism.
She has always felt that art and spirituality are connected – as art is the result of inspiration, and inspiration in itself has its basis in spirituality. Her faith in Jesus Christ (Orthodoxy) gives her motivation to create artistically and to fulfil her purpose in life.
